The Asian Way to Wine
Yoichi Sato discovered his passion for wine during a stay in France while working in a Paris restaurant, in 1988. Really fascinated by wine he turned to Sommelerie from the end of that year.
He did the tasting course of the Paris Sommelier Association and worked with Philippe Faure-Brac in the Bistrot des Sommeliers. Back in Japan in 1990, he started to work at the Enoteca Pinchiorri in Tokyo and then for the Taillevent- Robuchon, also in Tokyo. He opened his own restaurant, Maxim in 2000.
In October 2005 he became the “Best Sommelier in Japan” and in 2007 he was awarded 3rd Best Sommelier of the World.
