Basset - Gérard

    It’s nearly not necessary anymore to present Gérard Basset, a real wine expert with an enormous field of knowledge, the only person in the World who is at the meantime Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and who has the Wine MBA, Gérard Basset is without any doubt a wine personality, that really counts. Gérard Basset is a real passionate, the proof, even his dog’s name is Merlot, any questions?


Gérard Basset who lives and works in England  is of French origin, he started his work as a sommelier in the 1980’s and had a great success ever since. He became Master Sommelier in London in 1989, and began to participate regularly in all the important Sommelier competitions; he was awarded 3rd Best Sommelier of Europe in 1990 and Best Sommelier of Europe in 1996.


In 1992, he became 2nd BestSommelier of the World, a title he achieved again in 2004 and 2007, year in which he also obtained his MBA having written the Best thesis, of course!  Gérard Basset is Member of the Academy of Food and Wine Service and the Worldwide Vice President of the Court of Master Sommeliers.
